A BIG THANK YOU to the directors who served on
the board and stepped down this year. Another BIG THANK YOU to
the new members who stepped forward to fill the vacancies.
The 3 resolutions were
passed at the AGM
1) The membership fee for
the gallery is now $20.

You can still renew your
membership for 2010 at the old rate of $15 until the end of
2009. That’s a great reason to drop by and visit.
2) In 2010, anyone entered in a members’ show
(we will have 3 in 2010) will be asked to
pay a fee of $5 each time they participate in a members’ show.
This fee will go towards promotion,operations and also cover the
reception costs for that particular show.
3) There will be an
increase in the show fee charged to individuals and groups
having shows at the gallery. This was $50 per week and now will
be $75.

We are putting out the
plea for volunteers to come forward to perform the following
jobs. Many hands make light work, hopefully.
1.
Volunteers to change the
artwork at the Comox Rec. Centre on Noel Ave.
These have been changed every two months. The
showcases have a very hard back and the
person doing the hanging has to be very careful and good with a
hammer. Each showcase is fronted by sliding glass doors. It
takes two people about 2 hours to take the old work out and get
the new work in. The completed showcases are photographed and
these photos are put with the regular consignment sheet that
goes into the gallery so sales can be made. Right now, Sheila
and Bob along with the assistance of Hans Larsen have been
coordinating this change, making the labels for the artwork,
hanging the art and getting the consignment sheet into the
gallery on the day of the show change. A three person team would
be great! Two to do the taking down and hanging and the third to
take care of the consignment sheet.
2.
Volunteer coordinator
for the Comox Library.
This person would be in
charge of seeing that the featured artist in the library gets
their work into the building, artwork is
labeled, consignment sheet completed with photos of the w ork
featured, and the library’s own consignment form submitted. The
change over is done every two months and the take down of the
old must take place prior to the new artist coming in.
3.
Label makers for the
artwork being hung at the gallery.
This person gets a consignment sheet copy and types up the
labels for that show. They then bring the
labels to the gallery and match them up to the artwork according
to the numbers on the frames. This job must be done on show
change day after the work is hung and before the show opens the
next day.

12th.

First members show 2010
runs from January 13
th
– February 1st. Registrations being taken immediately! Remember
you may have one large piece no bigger
than 24 x 30 or smaller ones totaling up to a similar area.
Also, remember there will now be a $5.00 entry fee per person.
