POLICY AND
PROCEDURES FOR GALLERY SHOW
1) A consignment sheet is provided
where all works of art are to be legibly listed by number, name of artist,
medium and price. Stickers are provided for all work and must be attached to the
frame on the bottom right comer and correspond to the number on the consignment
sheet. This aids the printing of information cards which are done by the Gallery
and are displayed on the wall beside your artwork. All artwork is required to be
brought into the gallery between 11:00 am - 1 :00 pm on the day of the hanging
unless alternate arrangements have been made with the show coordinator. Artwork
is to be picked up between 4pm - 5pm on the last day of the show.
No work is to be picked up prior to 4pm as the show is open to the public until
that time. At this time
the artist is required to initial beside their entry on the consignment sheet to
indicate that they have removed their work from the show.
2)
All artwork must be framed or suitably prepared for public presentation.
Unframed work is acceptable if done on gallery wrap canvas painted on all sides.
Frames and matt must be in good condition with appropriate hardware and wires.
Clip framing and any work not properly prepared will not be hung. During
Members' Shows, we request that you limit your entry to one piece in order to
give everyone a chance to participate unless otherwise directed in the
call-for-entry. In some cases where work is small or consists
of pieces which may be presented on plinths, exceptions can be made.
The Gallery has the discretion to
refuse work.
3) If you have booked shows for the current
year, you will have received packages with sheets which must be filled out and
returned to the Gallery with plenty of lead time. This is necessary to
deal with all the preparation, publicity and planning which must go into every
show. The Gallery must have a press release and pictures of your work for
newspaper coverage, web site information and posters which will be displayed
around town. These need to be in our hands at least 1 month prior to the
event. This allows us to advertise the current show and the upcoming show
at the same time.
4) You are required to arrange a reception
or meet and greet the "Meet and Greet the Artist". If it is a Members'
Show, we urge you to participate in the opening Reception. Each exhibiting
member, registered in a member's show is required to pay a $5.00 fee.
5) When you book a show, you will receive
more concise Policy and Procedure forms (click here to view form). If you wish
to book a show, you should contact Show Co-ordinator, Sheila Pollock, at
250-339-5660
as early as possible. 2009 is booked and 2010 will be prepared early in
2009. We like to have contingency shows on deck in case of cancellations.
