Teresa L'Hirondelle                                                    Studio Name: Sea Swallows Studio

My medium is mainly watercolour. The luminosity and the challenge of controlling the medium without over doing it, I love the exciting effects sometimes like magic the water colour medium depicts the west coast ocean scenes better than other medium, as we know the greatest watercolorists are from Britain a place surrounded by sea and mist. ............ I create paintings because I have always been artistic. Now that I am living on the island I am incredibly inspired to interpret the space around me not just record it with a camera. I paint portraits seascapes and old houses(I love reflections and the way light shines through cloth).

Sharon Lennox                                                                        Studio Name: Hilltop Studio

I an a student and producer of fine art.  I grew up in a rural community and have loved anything to do with nature and animals all my life.

In my paintings all my loves come together, animals, birds, nature, flowers and artistic craft.  My medium is oils, I like the ease of mixing and the buttery texture which allows the paint to flow smoothly onto the canvas.

I paint from photos mostly, sometimes many photos for the development of one painting.  The research, planning and set up of a painting can take as long if not longer than the painting itself.

I guess the main thing is that I absolutely love what I do, hope to still be learning and painting when I am ninety.

Lee McColl

My interest in painting began when I first watched painting shows on television.  The magic of starting with a blank canvas and finishing with what appears to be a three dimensional painting was fascinating.                                                                                                           Prairie Landscape by Lee McColl

I have been painting for several years in oil, then acrylic.  I prefer to paint landscapes as it allows me more freedom to express myself in a wider range of colors.

My paintings have been shown at the Pearl Ellis Gallery, Lemon Tree Gallery, Filberg Lodge, Tantalus Gallery in Powell River, Kingfisher Inn, D.D. Fashions, The Old House, Town and Country Gift Shop, Courtenay Library and the Royal B.C. Museum in Victoria.

I have attended workshops with Bruce Cryer, Neil Howell, Peter Robinson and Neil Boyle.  For several years my teacher was Eleanor Williams.  I now paint with "The Brushworks" painting group which meets every Wednesday and enjoy my time with this talented group of people.
