Julie Reynolds
Julie
Reynolds was raised in Ontario and B.C., and came to the Comox Valley from
Vancouver in 1993. Raising three children and running a business did not leave
much time for art, until fairly recently.
Education
1974-1975 -
H.B.Beal , London, Ontario ( Bealart)- foundation skills in life
drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics and commercial art
Currently a
member of The Cumberland Lifers, of Cumberland, B.C.
Primarily
self-taught, she has and continues to make her living as a
goldsmith/metal artist, in partnership with her husband Ross
Haynes.
This has
led to further explorations in the three dimensional arts
through sculpture. At the age of fifty, years of pent-up and
put-off creativity burst forth, and new explorations were
undertaken in acrylics and watercolour.
Favorite
subjects include figure study, and the temporal nature of
objects, contrasting their origins with what they eventually
become.
Julie
resides in Fanny Bay, B.C.

Susan Schaefer
Studio Name:
Young At Art Studios

Susan Schaefer, owner of
Young at Art Studios, is a Canadian fine artist, photographer, publisher
and graphics designer! She lives, works and creates at her studio just
outside Qualicum Beach on beautiful Vancouver Island.
Although she has painted for many years in both acrylic and watercolour,
for the last few months she has been working solely in acrylics ... just
to see how far she can push the medium.
With
a diverse background in graphic arts, photography and her love of travel
... Susan's subjects range from tropicals, west coast, prairie and
landscape. Her work is often described as "Bold, Bright and Whimsical"
as she likes to use rich pure colour, working paint directly onto
the canvas, like impasto.
She is also the publisher of
Island Arts Magazine, a new publication
showcasing West Coast Artists.
