Marg Selkirk
Marg
loves to share with others her connection to nature through painting. She hopes
that others will feel the same spiritual peace, tranquility, and inner joy that
she experiences when walking through the high country. (She only paints places
she’s visited, except when doing commissioned paintings.)
Marg paints detailed realistic oil paintings of dense forests, majestic
mountains, tranquil lakes and misty oceans. She paints with oils, which dry
slowly, thus allowing her to capture, in minute detail, the light and life of
the nature that she re-experiences while painting. “It’s not so much the end
result of my painting that matters to me. It’s the feeling I get while painting,
that I love.”

Phillip Smith
Studio Name:
Smith Studio and Custom Framing
I was born and raised in the Comox
Valley. Operating our third generation dairy
farm with my two brothers for the last twenty-six years. I have painted in
watercolour for nine years, studying with well known Campbell River artist Chris
Wootton. I have taken workshops with Marilyn Timms and Brent Heighton.
My paintings are mainly representational
images, working wet into wet watercolours and incorporating oil stick, chalk
pastel and acrylics.
The natural beauty of our West Coast is
the inspiration of my paintings. Observing how the light and shadows create so
much movement in our minds. My goal is to capture this moment in time!
I have had several showing at the
Filberg Gallery and a solo show in 2005 in the newly named Pearl Ellis Gallery.
Many of my painting are in private collections.

Norma Steven Studio Name:
Signature Art by Norma
Norma
enjoys painting the beauty of nature in landscapes and also the free expression
of form, shape and colour on wrap-around canvas, with a view to that special
place for art in home decorating. The latter form of symbolistic art has become
Norma's signature, and is particularly suited to commissioned work which
enhances the colour scheme of room décor.
Norma has recently
been juried and upgraded to Active status in the Federation of Canadian Artists.
A successful participant in several Art Shows, Norma is a member of the Comox
Valley chapter of the
Federation of Canadian Artists and the

Steve
Williamson
Photographer
and conservationist Steve Williamson spends as much time as possible
working up and down the BC coast and when possible works with
conservation charities in the Great Bear Rainforest. Working with these
organisations has enabled Steve to see many of the amazing sights and
wildlife presented in his photographs. It also allowed him to learn a
great deal about the spectacular scenery and wonderful wildlife he was
seeing, whilst at the same time being able to give something back to the
environment and the area in which he was working.
Steve’s interest in photography grew when trained by
the Royal Navy as a ‘Ship’s Photographer’ and was further broadened by a
diploma college course in the late 90’s. He moved to the Comox Valley
on Vancouver Island with his wife Pauline in 2006 and really fell in
love with BC and its special coast. Over the past decade or so Steve’s
work has been published in newspapers, on several websites, has been
used in promotional video presentations and national slideshows and has
been retained in government and scientific databases for reference and
referral archiving. Today, photographing the region’s wildlife is his
passion.
“In my short time in BC I have learnt and seen so
much, this coastline and the Great Bear Rainforest are wonderful places
to see, I feel very privileged to be able to live and work here.”
