HIGH SCHOOL BURSARY PROGRAM
The Pearl Ellis Gallery
began offering high school bursaries in 2007 in order to fulfill its
educational goal as laid out in the Society's constitution. At that
time 3 bursaries of $500.00 were given out, one to each of the high schools
in the valley. The choice of who were to receive the bursaries were
left up to the schools using the criteria laid out by the Society.
In 2011 it was decided
that the bursaries be changed from three awards of $500.00 to two awards of
$750.00 and the selection process would be done by the Society.
In recognition of the
support received by the Town of Comox, one bursary is dedicated to a
student graduating from Highland School and immediately pursuing further
education in the field of visual arts.
The second bursary is granted to any Grade 12 student within the boundaries of School District
71 (Comox Valley) similarly pursuing immediate further education in the
visual arts.
Recipients are
required to produce proof of enrollment in the post-secondary institution of
their choice.
Applicants are expected to
meet the criteria as described in the application form.
