The 2023 Annual General Meeting was held April 29, 2023 with adequate members to have quorum. Significant items that were announced included the resignation of Sonja Turnbull, Vice-president, and Isabelle Durand, Member at Large. The Board thanked them for their exemplary service to Pearl Ellis Gallery and wished them all the best in their future endeavours.

The following members agreed to have their names stand and were re-elected to the Board: Carol Imai, Mark Jones, Kim McCabe, Teresa Kachanoski, and Miriam Myers.

We are therefore seeking members who would like to serve on the Board. This is a great opportunity to be involved in promoting art in your community and understand the inner workings of the PEG. Another announcement at the AGM was that the membership fee at Pearl Ellis Gallery will be increased from $25 per year to $30 per year, effective January 1, 2024. This is primarily a result of increased costs due to inflationary pressure and also to recognize that the fees have been at the current rate for over 10 years.

The past month provided the Inside Art Show which was very well attended and enjoyed. Following that is the High School Show May 9 to 27, with students from Highland, Vanier and Au-Coeur-de-l'île participating, an excellent show to look forward to. A reception will be held May 11 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Our search for volunteer coordinators continues. The volunteer positions that we are seeking include the Workshop Coordinator, Comox Rec Centre Coordinator, Card Coordinator, and Reception Coordinator. Please consider these opportunities to get involved and find more information here.
